Lecrae - Rebel Vs. Gravity

Lecrae - Rebel Vs. Gravity
Sorry Rapzilla, we can't pass up promoting this glorious track. What is maturity? It's the forward change and growth of an individual person or thing, right? So what is that for the christian? To mature is to increase not only our faith, but to change our view on things based off of our understanding of God, the bible, the world, sin, and so on. So what happens when you pin up a young zealous Lecrae up against an older, more mature Lecrae? Someone is gonna get rebuked for something... Lecrae has had to deal with a lot of fan hazing because of his recent moves with his Church Clothes & Gravity projects. A daring step into the secular world to bring the lost souls to God... using their own artists to do so. However, some younger, less mature, zealous fans of his claim that he has gone down an iniquitous route. That he's letting the fame get to his head, and his messages aren't the same, and so on. So recognizing that, Gravity's Lecrae takes a listen to his fans through Rebel's Lecrae, and the result is humbling. I advise you to take a listen. Yes, we haven't done much here in a while, but fear not! We'll be back up and running, and we'll be bringing new stuff to you every week. So keep your eyes peeled.

Lecrae - I Know (Cardec Drums Remix)

Lecrae - I Know (Cardec Drums Remix)
You have no idea how not happy I am that this guy's remix won the "I Know" Remix Contest. However, I promised myself the winner (which I thought would be Tone Jonez) would make it onto the blog... and since I haven't done much in a while, I can't really complain. Honestly, this remix is stinking dope. It recreated the original feel for the song (or should I say enhanced it) with a mash-up of Adele's Rumor Has It. Still, the song maintains the same message. "I know what they're saying, but it doesn't matter. I'm gonna keep doing what I'm doing regardless of the rumors they spread and the talk they talk." An attitude that is initially helpful, if anything required, if you plan on taking the step to follow a God who commands you to do right in a wrong-headed world. So, I'm gonna go listen to the Tone Jonez remix a couple more times, but I suggest you give Jay Cardec his credit and get this track. You won't be disappointed.

J. Han - Art Of Starch

J. Han - Art Of Starch
Someone has to explain to me why this is so dope... cause obviously, I don't get it. I mean, who on earth uses their lifestory as a way to relate people to Christ over jazzy beats and a few crazy bangers? This whole album is a masterpiece from beginning to end. J. Han's Art Of Starch is not your typical CHH album with deep messages over dope beats... though it has some. It isn't just fancy poetry and tricky wordplay, though it is present. This is the life of James Han redeemed through the cross of Christ, and how in the same way he saw God through a mad life of trying to fit in while helping the family business, you can see and know him in your very own life. I reccomend that you waste no time clicking the link below and playing this. Seriously, play it immediately. You're wasting time reading the rest of this. ;)

Amp - Faithful/Refiner's Flame

Amp - Faithful/Refiner's Flame
I've been listening to Amp Movement for the past few days like a music addict. I. Am. Blown. Away. I haven't heard so much passion & creativity in this genre of music that was directed toward glorifying God... ever. J. Han, Sam Ock, CL, & Manifest have introduced a jazzy praise to the world and it is full of meaningful content. Honestly, there is not a single lack in conviction in every lyric. These guys live it out first and then let it spill into the music. Not the other way around. This isn't even giving them justice because they're just sick, so do both of us a favor & check them out. You'll see more soon, I promise. ;)

Jerrell Johnson - Dream S.O.D.A.

Jerrell Johnson - Dream S.O.D.A.
To be honest, I've been slacking on my posting game. Not on it at all... so here is my way of making it up to you (along with my other posts today). This post is just long overdue. You've seen this man's talent in TRUE COLORS, so now prepare to be blown away again from the extremely creative mind of Jerrell Johnson. Life is short, do you agree? Think about how much has happened and it all seems like yesterday. Life is but a breath. So, often it would be good to just reflect & examine the past, and dream about the future. Need help doing so? Take Jerrell's example in his "vhs" Dream S.O.D.A. (so others do also). He takes the perspective of an individual who examines their own life through a video. Rewinding to the past, pausing to reflect on the current, and fast-forwarding to see the future. The countless stories representing actual events in his life (and a few references to TRUE COLORS) show how all the while, God is there, and God will always be there. So don't be afraid of life. You may have had a rough life, and it may have been really hard, but dream as others do (and have done great things) and take your dream far. You won't regret it, and Jerrell can help you get started.

Flo - No Limits

Flo - No Limits
What holds you back? I know, I know. "Very funny, very clever. You're just alluding to the album cover and stuff. Blah, Blah, Blah." Think about it though... When you wanna do something amazing... what holds you back? Is it fear? Lack of judgement of knowledge? Lack of modivation? What are your limitations? Especially when it relates to God... what would limit you? Take a moment to think about it... and then consider that your God is always bigger than whatever you're thinking about. Flo makes that clear in his debut mixtape No Limits. The guy has an impressive flow (hah, get it?) and really aims to give God his unlimited glory from song to song. You probably heard it in his single Child's Play, or Let's Ride ft. Mouthpi3ce, or even his God Over Money Remix of Lecrae's Violence ft. label mates Bizzle & Bumps INF, but this mixtape offers so much more with songs like Amen, The Cure (a remix of Nicki Minaj's Moment For Life) and a remix of Da T.R.U.T.H.'s new single Hope. His clear example of giving God his best should inspire you to do the same in whatever you do... and if not... just nod your head. =)

Future - Skylife ft. Canon

Future - Skylife ft. Canon
So... is the sky the limit? What is the "sky"? How many of us hear that phrase, then just walk away from the cliche moment, never thinking much of it? I'm with you. Future's Skylife ft. Canon dives straight into the meaning of what it is to "touch the sky" and exceed the limit for someone living for God. It gave me a new perspective on what the phrase means to be honest. What does it mean to live like the sky is the limit? Let's digest. The "sky" refers to the endless possibilities that we are capable of achieving. Since that is the limit... what then are we truly limited to? For those of us who formerly didn't know God, we can come up with a list. Friends, image, work, family, etc. There's so much to hold us back. However, this is not the case for us anymore. Since we now consider our lives forsaken for God, we are not bound to the worries of the world. We have a Matthew 6:25-33 to cling to. Philippians 4:13 to drive us. We aren't limited to anything. Everything is permissible, but not everything is constructive. So what is it that's holding you back? Is the sky your point of view, or are you still looking up? Get focused while you listen to this, and get "higher than the Seraphim" (Shouts to my fellow seraphs!).

Flo - Child's Play

Flo - Child's Play
Now, don't freak out. This isn't anything like "Don't hug me, I'm scared". The picture is probably the most misleading part of this track. However, with the skill of this guy's neadnodic flow... I may reconsider that comment. I haven't been listening to much of anything lately to be honest, so when I heard this... it caught me off guard. Flo's Child's Play, as far as I can tell, is him giving you a clear picture of who he is and who he stands for. Mentioning the misconceptions of his faith, false hopes & dreams that cannot be attained, and living the life as a christian, you will find so much meaning riddled through this song that hitting repeat over 90x is advised & prescribed. However, the song title does play off of both the movie "Child's Play" and 1 Corinthians 13:11, and the mix is appropriate. Consider what we call the "sins of our youth". Don't they all cause something bad? Even the little white lie builds up guilt... and for good reason. To do those things we did as a "child" now, would lead us down a place too dark & too hot for anyone's preference. Since we now know the truth, we no longer have the security of ignorance, and should choose to act accordingly... because even that veil won't hold for long. Anyhow, get this. It's better than anything Kendrick Lamar puts out. =)

Strght & Nrrw - S&N Life ft. MC Jin, Uncle Reece, A-FLO, & Erick Dayz

Strght & Nrrw - S&N Life ft. MC Jin, Uncle Reece, A-FLO, & Erick Dayz
Who says a clothing line can't make mixtapes & music videos? B3ar Fruit did it. Speaking of clothing lines... I heard Trinity Design was opening up a website soon. Anyhow, get a crew neck after you listen to this (and if they get enough support, they may will do a mixtape? Or even a theme song! Okay, I'm not speaking for them, just my curious mind at work). Anyone ever wonder what happened to that dude who called himself the "First Chinese Rapper"? I mean, really... homeboy fell off the face of the earth. Well, looks like he fell into the right hands. Jin has made his lowkey comeback in the CHH universe and is doing big things, as you can see here. The clothing line, Strght & Nrrw, recently released a mixtape titled Blood, Sweat, Tears, & Prayers (named after one of their popular shirts, I believe) featuring an all star line up, including the likes of MC Jin, A-Flo, Social Club, Braille (featured in the above video), Alex Faith, & more. The mixtape itself has a very new-southern rap sound to it, but hops around the sub-genres of hip-hop & rap to give everyone a track to love. Anyhow, Get the mixtape to get this wonderful S&N anthem, and you won't be let down.

Skrip - Say Ft. Andy Mineo

Skrip - Say Ft. Andy Mineo
So... who's go something to say? I know that whenever I'm in class and my teacher says something faulty about God, my hand is up. Skrip & Andy must be encouraging the same thing (in a class full of christians apparently). Say at first didn't catch my ears with the few seconds of intro... until Skrip started flowing. Plus, I was drawn to it because of Andy Mineo (because homeboy kills everything he's on). However, despite my lack of faith in this being a worthy track, it exceeds my expectations 3 times over. Honestly, who wouldn't wanna stand up for God in public unless you were honestly scared? We here in America face no death threats. Only hateful remarks regarding us being a delusional lot of mysticals & misfits. How frightening! The video is a rather funny fictional take on the young christian's response to their teacher's "enhanced" understanding of God. Andy stands side by side with Skrip with "something to say" provoking the whole class to respond to the teacher's claim. Ironically, an actual situation would leave you (and maybe a few others) sticking out like sore thumbs, and could damper your rep. I don't know about you, but I'm with Social Club on their "Misfits till I die" when it comes to defending God because it's way more important than a temporary reputation. So, if you have something to say, speak it loud. If you're kinda scared, then give a listen to this, pray for the spirit to let you speak boldly & respectfully, then go hard.
